UPDATE 4/22/08:   The Field is open!!!  There were several members flying up there last weekend. The road is pretty good and will continue to get better as it dries up.  Hope to see everyone up there this summer! Remember, now is the time to renew your membership if you don't want to miss out on great flying conditions.

The club flying field was relocated to Long Hill Farm on Rt. 113 in West Newbury, Massachusetts in the Summer of 1998.  West Newbury is a small town on the North Shore about 35 miles north of Boston. Nearby towns are Newburyport, Merrimac and Groveland.

The flying field has a grass strip which accommodates powered, non-powered planes and helicopters. The field is surrounded mostly by short apple trees and a corn field. The pit area is directly adjacent to the grass strip, and is separated from the grass strip and a spectator area by a safety fence. There is ample parking directly adjacent to the spectator area.

Flying occurs in the spring, summer and fall. During the winter months, the access road gets a bit muddy to make it to the field.

Noise Restrictions: Noise emanating from an aircraft must not exceed 90db at 9feet. The club maintains a decimal meter to help regulate noise. There are a number of club members who can help resolve noise problems through the suggested use of after mufflers, soft mounts, propeller selection, etc.

Flying Field Hours: The flying field is open 7 days a week, from 9am until dusk.

Frequency Control: Only 4 aircraft transmitters can be in use at any one time. All transmitters not in use must be kept in the transmitter impound area. Before removing a transmitter from the impound area for use, your current club membership card and AMA card must be placed in the appropriate frequency slot and the corresponding frequency clip must be placed on your transmitter. As soon as you are done with your flight, you must return your transmitter to the impound area and relinquish control of the frequency so that others might use it.
